You've made a goal to get riding, get fitter, kick those fatty flabs or get more comfortable on the bike. Congratulations! But you know what that means? It's time for a little motivation.

You've decided to get back on the bike. You're ready to take it up a notch, stop putting yourself off, and finally get some serious miles under your belt. You've got all the motivation you need, you just need something to kick-start that motivation—something that will get you out of bed in the morning and put the pedal to the metal.

We're not talking about just reading some inspirational quotes and hoping it works. These are exhilarating movie clips that will give you exactly what you need to keep going when things get tough—and keep those cycling goals in sight.

These movie clips deliver motivation like nobody's business! Here are our top picks for this week:

The Karate Kid

This classic tale of a kid who rises above his circumstances is one of our all-time favorite movies—and a great way to motivate yourself when you need an extra boost! The story follows Daniel LaRusso (played by Ralph Macchio) as he learns karate from Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita). It shows him how much hard work can pay off when he finally masters his skills, even against adversity—and it teaches us that no matter what happens, we can always turn our lives around if we put our heads down and try hard enough!

Rocky IV

Rocky IV is another favorite movie among fitness enthusiasts about trying something new for yourself and pushing through any setbacks along the way.

This movie has inspired millions to get active. It's also one of the most popular movies about fitness, and for good reason! The underdog story is inspiring, but what makes this film so inspiring is the way it brings together the personal and professional goals of Rocky Balboa. He wants to get back into the ring, but he also wants to become a better husband and father. As you watch Rocky's struggles, you'll find yourself feeling motivated to get back on track with your own goals—whether they're personal or professional!

The Pursuit of Happiness (2006)

If you’re looking for a movie that will get you motivated to work out and eat right, look no further than this Oscar-winning drama. Will Smith stars as an unemployed father who is forced into a life-changing challenge to raise his son after he loses his job. The movie follows him as he pursues his dream job and goes through many obstacles along the way, including a love interest played by Rosario Dawson. Smith has always been known for playing tough guys with tons of swagger, but here he plays a character that is full of heart and motivation. If you want to see what it takes to achieve your dreams, this movie will show you how it's done!

The Incredibles

If you're looking for an uplifting hero story that will give you hope for your own life, look no further than The Incredibles! It tells the story of a family who fights crime together with superpowers, which makes them heroes in their community as well as themselves (and it also has some great ass-kicking scenes!).

Caddyshack"

"Caddyshack" is a 1980 comedy about caddy Carl Spackler who, along with his friends and colleagues at the country club, tries to save the club from being closed down by its members. The film shows how much fun can be had while getting fit by doing what you love outside of work.

Happy Gilmore

Happy Gilmore is one of the most inspirational sports movies out there. And if you haven't seen it yet, we're sorry to burst your bubble, but you're going to want to fix that. The movie tells the story of Billy "Happy" Gilmore (Adam Sandler), who is a hockey player with a lot of skill and heart, but not much discipline. He's known for his legendary fight against an opponent named Red (played by Dennis Hopper).

The movie is full of hilarious moments and raunchy humor, but if you watch it with your eyes open, you'll see that the message behind Happy Gilmore is pretty important: no matter how good you are at something, if you don't want to do it 100% of the time or put in the work required to get better, then maybe it's not something worth doing.

The Fighter (2010)

The Fighter is another great movie about boxing that will motivate you to work out more often than usual! Christian Bale stars as Dickie Eklund, a former boxer who has been struggling financially since getting knocked out of the ring 10 years prior by Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg).

The film centers on boxer Micky Ward (Wahlberg), his brother Dicky Eklund (Bale), and their manager Billy Hope (Von Sydow). The three live in Lowell, Massachusetts, and are close friends with each other and their father, who is dying of cancer. Ultimately, Micky must decide whether or not to give up his boxing career when he realizes that his father is not long for this world.

Set your goals and be your own star

It's a pretty simple equation: exercise is good for you and exercise is better than no exercise. But it doesn't always come naturally, especially when it comes to getting out on the bike.

If you love cycling, then you will be inspired by the thought of biking to work or going on a long ride. If you love movies, then watching movies that are about the outdoors and being active can inspire you to get out there and try new things.

The key is to find something that gets your heart pumping, so find what makes YOU excited and go for it!

About Spokeherd

The cycling community is a diverse and growing group, but it's important to note that all cyclists are not the same. We've all heard the stereotype of the "Lycra-clad bike messenger" or "crazy biker dude," but that's not what we're about. We're a community of people who love cycling as much as we love ourselves—and we want to share that love with you.

We offer great deals on cycling merchandise - gear, services, and products for our members. We also provide several opportunities for those members who want to get involved with their local cycling community.
